Opening a candle shop may be the dream you have always wanted. It makes sense if you have a passion for candles and love to make them. Even if you do not make your own, there are plenty of companies that sell candles to retail stores. The Yankee Candle Company is one example of a business that sells their candles to retail stores and there are plenty of others. But to make any business work you have to have a passion for what it is that you are selling.

Opening a candle shop is a great idea and once you have made that decision you still have a few more to make before you are ready to open the doors. You will need to have an inventory so that means you are going to have to decide what it is that you intend to sell or offer to the public. Will you be selling home decor candles and scented candles that you have made yourself or will you be reselling from a larger company. Whatever you choose to sell you are going to need to boost up your inventory so that you will not run out the first week of business.

Something you might want to consider, along with your candles, is teaching candle making classes if you are an experienced candle maker. This is a hobby that many people are picking up. If you sell the supplies on hand you will be able to charge for the classes and charge for the actual supplies that the people will need in order to make their own candles at home.

If resale is your goal, then you first need to find reputable dealers who sell candles that are specifically made for resale. One company that fits this description is The Yankee Candle Company. They offer a huge assortment of scented candles from which to choose. You will want to keep a wide selection of candle sizes and scents. Some people prefer a votive candle, as opposed to a pillar candle. Yankee also makes car fresheners and tealight candles.

Owning your own candle shop is a great way to have your own business and be doing something that you love. You can sell your favorite scents and still be indulging in the hobby of making your own candles to sell to the public. Just make sure that you offer a wide enough assortment and scents to appeal to a wide customer base. You should also make sure and advertise well so that the public knows that you are in business. Hopefully, your new venture will prove profitable and you will enjoy yourself.
